issue within Han Chinese Culture

Part III of the research project involves creating an outline and draft for the argument section of your essay. You will take a stance on an issue or idea related to the culture, forming an argument. Having learned about and analyzed the culture, what potential arguments have you unearthed? Is there a problem within the culture that you’d like to take a stance on? Does the culture clash with other cultures?
Take a side. Make sure that someone, somewhere, would disagree with you. That’s what makes it an argument.
•Use research and rhetoric to convince the audience of your argument.
• Choose only one argument, versus a number of small ones. You may inherently have small issues as a part of the larger focus, but keep the lens narrow, and support the argument with lots of examples.
• Part III should use third person, just like the first section. However, this section uses argument as its rhetorical strategy. You will make a claim in your thesis statement and then use source material to support your argument and persuade your reader.
• Don’t make an argument that everyone would agree with or an argument that is too obvious. If you do this, it will be difficult to utilize the rhetorical strategy for the section.

• Be sure to take time to refute opposing viewpoints
