In this assignment you are asked to write a detailed analysis of research in which you present the findings of your research. This assignment should NOT be structured like a standard essay. You
are not writing an essay. This is a piece of research, which you break into sections. Follow the instructions below and there is a model essay in the appendix on Blackboard under the heading
Appendix. You gather as many examples and as much evidence as you can assemble. Then organise the evidence into sections (see some suggestions below). Finally, you present your concluding
findings.
Provide three (maximum four) sections with as many examples as you can.
Start by choosing one specific genre to focus on. Analyse at least three films/television programmes/videos/magazines/popular literature/public relations campaigns etc within the same genre.
(Do not use films etc analysed at length in the lecture).
Concentrate on a particular time frame, such as a decade (for example, from the end of the 1980s to the end of the 1990s), or focus on changes in representation over a broader period, for
instance from 1950s to 21st century.
