My Hypothesis:

Motivational Interviewing (MI) therapy techniques combined with Treatment as Usual (TAU) therapy will increase patient’s self-efficacy (one’s belief in one’s ability to succeed) in a short term inpatient substance abuse rehabilitation, and therefore will increase readiness to abstain from substance use.

IV: Performance of treatment methodology

Experimental group will receive combined MI and TAU therapy

Control group will receive TAU therapy

DV: Self-efficacy score/results, and preparation/action to abstain from substance score.

Order: Introduction (Literature Review): Review the relevant literature using at least 8 original sources. Include significant findings, both for and against the theory (where applicable) and identify an area that needs to be investigated (this area is your project). End the Introduction with a formal research hypothesis and null hypothesis.
