Introduction:
• Briefly describe your population and the community nutrition problem. What is the problem you are trying to address?
Literature Review: at least 3 sources
• A review of the factors related to the behavior/problem including demographic, cultural, environmental, social, and psychological factors.
o Within your chosen population, if you are focusing on teenagers for example, then you could research this specific group and nutrition issues that they tend to struggle with. Why do they struggle with nutrition? Why do they not exercise? Why do they drink energy drinks?
• Describe the factors related to the nutrition problem for your specific population.
o For example, if you’re working on diabetes prevention with Native American populations, then the factors described should be specific to that group. This section will help inform next sections.
Previous interventions Review:
• A review of at least 3 previous interventions (these must be original primary research articles—not reviews, websites, or the book) for your specific nutrition behavior change.
o For example, if your project is on preventing diabetes for Native Americans, you would see if there have been any research interventions with Native Americans on this topic. If there aren’t any studies on this topic, then include studies that have done diabetes prevention with your target population.
• Briefly summarize each intervention separately: tell the reader what was done in the study, with whom, and what their findings were. Describe what was learned from the each study (what worked and what didn’t work).
Conclusion
• How can the information gained from your literature review and previous interventions review to help to design your nutrition intervention? (again, avoid personal pronouns)

Formatting:
1. Your literature review should include a cover page with your name, class and title of paper, possible 4-7 pages of text, plus a page for citations in AMA formatting.
2. The content of the paper should be separated by headers (introduction, literature review, previous interventions, conclusion)
3. Do not place your paper in a binder. Please staple all pages together BEFORE CLASS
4. Type using a 12-point serif font (e.g., Times New Roman) with double spacing (2.0) and one-inch margins on all sides. The works cited page can be single spacing. You must follow these guidelines to receive full credit.

Citation Requirements
You must cite your references throughout the paper per the AMA (American Medical Association – 10th Edition) style. After making a statement that may have come from one of your references, you put (1) and that 1 corresponds to #1 on your works cited page. You must provide a reference for each fact or statistic you include to give your sources their due credit. Follow the AMA Manual of Style, 10th ed for citations. Please view the citation guide on Blackboard for specifics.

• Do not include your textbook as a citation.
• You must have at least six peer-reviewed journal articles referenced. If you cite a website, that could be your seventh plus reference.
