Coursework Brief
Â
Scenario: In order to understand more about the success (or failure) of the company, your senior management team have asked you to examine an area of International Business and produce a critical analysis report of its contribution to the company’s performance. This should include your recommendations for the company based on the analysis conducted.
Â
You are expected to prepare (individually) a critical analysis report examining one core topic for a company of your choice. This company could be a company you work for or one that you can find out enough independent and objective information on. Your decision should be based entirely on your own degree of interest with the chosen company and considerations such as access to information.
Â
Select one topic from those taught to you during the module (e.g., Lecture 1 – Globalisation, Lecture 2 – Theories of Trade and Investment, Lecture 3 – Regional Economic Integration, Lecture 4 – FDI, Lecture 5– International Business Environment and Culture, Lecture 6 –International Strategy, Lecture 7 – Global Sourcing, Lecture 8 – Ethics and Social Responsibility, Lecture 9 – Emerging Markets, Lecture 10 – International Marketing and relate the topic to the company, analysing its contribution to the company’s performance. For example, you may wish to consider the way in which a company works to adhere to Corporate Social Responsibility policies and the effect this has on its business success (or not). Within each topic there are a variety of frameworks, matrices, concepts, and theoretical perspectives that could be used in your critical analysis.
Â
Provide recommendations based on the information you garner from your analysis.
Â
There is no word limit, but your report (inclusive of all pages) MUST NOT EXCEED 8 PAGES (excluding references) AND MUST FOLLOW THE SPECIFIED STRUCTURE (any pages over this threshold will not be marked).Â

Additional Comments
Â
Ø If forms of analysis are put in the appendices, the analysis must be appropriately referenced and used in the main body of the text and implications/conclusions drawn from it; simply leaving the analysis ‘hanging’ in the appendix will not be considered as applying the analysis.
Ø Theory should be used to inform the analysis, provide support for using specific frameworks and concepts, draw implications, introduce theoretical perspectives, and relate your analysis to your chosen company.
Ø Theory, frameworks, concepts, examples, etc. need to be integrated within the critical analysis.
Â
Ø You can make links to other relevant topics where appropriate.
