Coursework – Intellectual Property Rights
Professor Brodie an employee of the University of Shaleford, gives a one hour guest lecture to a local group of small business retailers on the topic of ?Intellectual Property Rights that Impact on Small Businesses?. She gives the lecture at the headquarters of the Small Business Association in Manchester, on June 25th 2013 at 7.30pm. Her lecture is based upon her own research notes, and she provides all attendees to the lecture a handwritten sheet summarising the lecture which is marked ??? Professor Brodie 2013
Her lecture is full of her own experiences of dealing with IP related issues within the small business industry. She also has a question and answer session, whereby she tackles issues raised by the audience. Professor Brodie has also created her own series of flow charts and diagrams as an aid to her lecture and she produces these on a flip chart. She scribbles out each diagram once she has finished explaining it. During the course of the lecture Professor Brodie is aware that some members of the audience are taking notes of her diagrams.
She finds out that:
a) Mr Hall has taken a photograph of the flipchart with the diagrams on which he intends to enlarge and reproduce for personal use.
b) Ms. Rahimini , who is a journalist for Small Business Monthly, has taken detailed notes, in which she has added her own commentary. She then uses these notes to write a critical review, repeating key theories of Professor Brodie?s lecture in an article which is published in the magazine three months after the lecture is delivered.
c) Dr. Vikka has translated Professor Brodie?s lecture handout into Russian and published it verbatim in a Russian academic journal.
