Informational Interview AssignmentThe purpose of the informational interview is threefold. First, it will give you an opportunity to examine an occupation in depth that is of interest to you. Second, it will give you an opportunity to practice networking, which is an important business skill. And third, you will get some career advice that may be useful to you.The steps for the assignment are as follows:Go to http://online.onetcenter.org/ and research an occupation that you are interested in. Read over the description to get a sense of tasks, knowledge, and skills required for that job.Through your own personal network (i.e., classmates, friends, family) or simply cold calling an organization, interview someone who is employed with that job. The interview needs to be in person (not on the phone or via email) and at least 30 minutes in length.In the interview, ask the interviewee the following 4 questions (i) how he/she got the job, (ii) what aspects that he/she likes about the job, (iii) challenges with the job, (iv) advice to help you with your job choice. Then ask an addition 3-5 questions that are of interest to you. You can google informational interview questions to get ideas for additional questions to ask.Write a maximum 3 page typed double spaced paper comprised of the following 3 parts. This assignment can be written in the first person (e.g., I interviewed I found the interview to be.)Part 1. A brief paragraph describing the job title and company of the interviewee; if you dont want to name the company you can simply describe it.
Part 2. The questions you asked and below each question the interviewees answers (so question, answer, question, answer).
Part 3. A paragraph describing the experience of the interview was the information useful? Did you learn something?
