3rd year university level – did poorly on the midterm, need this essay to boost grade (30% of final mark)
You will need to use examples from various heritage sites
or cultural communities to support your argument. The assignments must be typed
and double-spaced on 8 1/2 x 11 inch paper. Use one-inch margins and 12-point font(Times New Roman). You must use APA format, which includes in-text citations aswell as a reference list at the end of your paper for only those items cited in the text.
You must include at least 6 articles from academic tourism journals and or academictourism books (see example list of journals above). You may have references fromthe Internet, government reports, newspapers, magazines or news (e.g. CBC or theBBC) to provide updated information however these references will be in addition tothe 6 journal articles or chapters from an academic book. . Your report should be no more than 4pages. Use subheadings to help structure your paper.
Make sure you select only one side of the argument when you write your essay. Note that nature based destinations/topics are excluded from this essay as they are covered in other courses.
Components:
• Title Page
• Introduction (1/2 page)
• Introduce the paper, your thesis statement and provide an outline of the
paper.
• Main body of the paper (3 pages)
• This will contain your argument as to why your thesis statement is true
or false. Use concepts related to cultural and heritage tourism literature
to support your argument. Include examples from various cultural
heritage sites, destinations or groups. Your paper should be structured
to argue a specific point of view. It is not a simple description of a
culture or historic site(s).
• Use subheadings to structure your paper.
• Be sure to use APA format with in-text referencing e.g. (author, date,
and page number if you are using a direct quote).
• Conclusion (1/2 page)
• Reference List
• Only include references which are used in your in-text citations
