1. In the lecture I mentioned that organizations are legally and ethically responsible to protect your private information , including pay information. But within the organization, private information including pay, addresses, phone numbers, employee ID numbers etc. are available at the department level. What kind of policies and procedures would you initiate to protect information at lower levels in the organization?
2. I discussed networking as another option for obtaining business information, at least on a local basis. You take a new job in a community you are unfamiliar with working for a company employing 200 employees. You are in charge of Human Resources. What kind of local information would be useful. How would you go about setting up a local network to obtain such information? What kind of information from your company would you consider appropriate to share?
3. As an extension to a question in last weeks discussion forum, what if the job is paid properly but you are underpaid. I mentioned in this weeks lecture that, The answer to pay inequities largely lies in your own hands. You control your own destiny. What do I mean by that? Ive always believed that if you have to ask for a pay increase, pay is not the problem. More important than pay, you are probably underappreciated and undervalued. How would you approach such a problem? What would you advise someone in such a situation to do?
