In recent decades TNCs have played a significant role in transfer of technology and R & D activities to developing countries. Examine the reasons for this trend and its role in world development. 1. The economic exposition is to be in the student’s own words and is expected to reflect reading and analysis that goes beyond standard textbook discussion. 2. The assessment may include (when appropriate) a short case study of a multinational that illustrates the themes of the essay. 3. Students must take great care to give full and appropriate referencing at all points in the essay. The burden of proof will be upon students to demonstrate the transparency of their use of sources. Failure to give proper citation of sources in the text of the essay and a precise correspondence between these sources and the reference list or bibliography will result in automatic failure of the essay. A mark of zero may well be awarded to an improperly cited essay.
