Ideal Work Environment

In any business or entity where people work as a group with each person complimenting the other there needs to be an ideal work environment for the group to achieve its goals. An ideal work environment is working together as one person, although people are working as a group. There are measures and practices that make the working environment conducive for all personnel from the supervisor or manager to the common employees. This paper looks at the conditions and relations that make working with the group members appropriate to achieve the set organizational goals.

The first aspect of a healthy working environment is mutual respect between members at the workplace. In any given job environment, there is a hierarchy of responsibilities and the head of the group who delegates and gives orders to others. The problem arises when an individual feels they are not getting enough respect, either from the seniors or the juniors, making their work more difficult (Hansen and Kayle 91). In an ideal work environment, there should exist an understanding and a level of respect between the juniors and the seniors to foster good co-existence and an excellent working relationship. There always exists a challenge in ensuring that a satisfactory level of mutual respect exists, and problems are likely to occur since everyone aspires to reach the top level in the entity. The enmity may arise due to competition between peers seeking a higher position, or the juniors and seniors competing for the same post. Ideally, the workplace should be able to manage all these vices and ensure that there is a good relationship between members, regardless of their position or educational levels.

Equality and fairness are also essential elements in the work environment. Equality pertains to delegation of duties and positions based on merit and transparency. Lack of transparency and fairness in conducting the business of the company creates enmity between workers. The workers perceive others to have obtained their positions through favoritism (Hansen and Kayle 78). These qualities increase chances of conflicts, since the workers lack mutual respect for each other, and their working relationship becomes weak. Balance in the working environment ensures that there is room for every member to achieve their targets and develop their careers based on a platform that is fair and transparent for all.

In addition, all members should be involved in making decisions related to the welfare and better working conditions of the workers. Lucas (35) argues that there should be deep consultations and interactions when making decisions, since the decisions are highly likely to affect all the members of the organization. When an entity thinks of, for example, increasing the working hours, or the set targets for each employee in the entity, the affected workers must be involved. Workers should not feel dejected on decisions that affect them, but should rather feel as part of the company and, therefore, part of the decisions made by the entity. In practice, it increases the level of dedication and effort of employees since all employees feel as if they own the company.

In conclusion, an ideal working environment is unattainable since there is no way an entity will ensure all its employees are happy, and, at the same time, achieve all its targets. The human factor is also a hindrance, since people do not always agree, and will see mistakes and ill intentions where such do not exist. However, each entity should strive as much as it can, to achieve a level of an ideal working environment, in order to get the best out of its employees.
