Assignment:    Each student will find a news article concerning either a violation of human rights or the correction of such a violation.  The student will briefly summarize the issue at hand and explain the human rights issues in terms of the UDHR and subsidiary conventions, as relevant.

Criteria:
Not more than 3 pages of text:
Context of the situation:  Not more than ¾ pages
Summary of the situation:  Not more than ¾ pages
Analysis of the situation:  At least as long as context + summary
Analysis:
Impact on human rights—positive and/or negative
Addresses UDHR and relevant subsidiary conventions
Convention on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination
Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights
Covenant on Civil and Political Rights
Covenant on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women
Convention on the Rights of the Child
