Q: How to setup your new business in Libya.
Export materials and products from overseas market to Libyan market is very popular business in Libya. Cars dealership is considered as one of those successful businesses in Libya. Due to round of 80% of Libyan land are desert therefore 4 wheels cars can be very successful business. Normally the Libyan market has 4 wheels cars made in Japan, Germany and South Korea on the other hand 4 wheels cars made in UK such as RANGE ROVER are not advertised therefore there shortage in the market.
To run 4 wheels dealership in Libya successfully, you should focus and develop ideas of how to get full benefit from the advantages and the opportunities available on the other hand trying to avoid or eliminate any disadvantages and risks may impact negatively on the business.
One of the advantages that i have is my comprehensive knowledge about UK in terms of language, culture, car market which will support me to have good negotiation with car dealers to have better price and services therefore I will keep down the cost of the cars to the costumers. I also have very good understanding of 4 wheels cars manufacturer including UK.
My knowledge of UK market will also help me to find save, reliable and reasonable price to ship the cars from UK to Libya.
In Libya, I will open three brunches or distributers in three different cities Tripoli, Mesrata and Benghazi which are the biggest three cities in Libya and all of them have port therefore we can ship the cars directly to them by sea. There is real opportunity to distribute cars to cover all Libya and our aim is to deliver cars to the doors of our customers. We will use all marketing tools such as TV, local newspaper and internet to advertise our cars and services therefore we will make sure that everyone in Libya knows about us. We will focus more on south Libya region market where the desert is thus 4 wheels cars are more used and required.
We would like to do after sales services therefore we keep tracking our customers and make sure they enjoy driving our cars without any issues thus we will have highly professional engineering team to deal with any technical problems for our customers and that would be free of charge for first year after sales then at very competitive price for the rest of the years.
We will apply sales and discount policy which is discount 5% for second car buyer or if any of our costumers recommend us to his friend them buying a car from us which would encourage our existing customers to carry on buying from us for second time and recommend our services to others.
??
Running business such as 4 wheels cars dealership in Libya certainly has some disadvantages which we will take them on our consideration and trying to avoid them.
For instance there are other competitors in the market sell 4 wheels cars from different manufacturers such as Toyota, Nissan, Mercedes, Hyundai and Kia therefore the best way to compete with them is to keep our price as law as we can and to provide very services at very good standards level.
Also, we will face another challenge which is poor service of internet services in Libya and that would affect our marketing plan because is not every one has access to internet at home or the coverage of the network is very weak in some areas therefore we will focus more on other marketing tools such a TV, local newspaper, flayers, leaflets and so on.
The security issue is another point that we should concern about it thus we set up CCTV security cameras for all our brunches which make them monitored for 24 hours to record any attempt to break in to our promises. Also, when we deliver the cars to our stores or to our customers we will make sure theses process is highly secured and saved.
The payment methods in Libya is also disadvantages because they are very limited therefore only cash payment and guarantee draft from the bank are reliable and trusted. One the other hand payment by credit or debit cards do not exist in Libya, bank transfer is not practical because is very slow and takes time to do it also the ordinary cheques payment is not reliable because of fraud issues and not enough money in the bank to clear it.
