This assignment will be worth 10% of your final mark in the PSW 163 Palliative Care course.
For this assignment each student is to read a book on or about palliative care. The book can include
such topics as:
• The stages of Kubler-Ross
• A specific cultural aspect of palliative care giving
• Grief and bereavement over various ages
This book review is to be completed and submitted electronically or in hard copy by Monday of
week 11.
***NB: Your book will be chosen by week 4. The teacher will have a number of books for students to
draw out of a hat.
Your book review should include:
• Description of the main character(s)/story line.
• Identify and discuss five points about palliative care that you have learned from this book.
• Discuss how you can apply what you have learned in your practice of client care.
• Describe how this book made you feel.
• Did this book change the way you think about palliative care?
• Written book review is to be 3 – 4 pages using APA 6th ed. format, double spaced, typed with
12 font.
