Harry Potter DeconstructionOrder Description
You are required to carefully select a 10-minute sequence from a Film or Television
Programme, and to demonstrate an ability to structure a technical ‘close reading’
effectively – drawing out significant points relating to the themes and impact achieved
through the technical production choices made.
You are expected to consider all the visual (design, camera and lighting) and audio
elements when analysing the scenes.
Assessment Criteria
1. Depth of background research into the Film or Television Programme, in particular
the creative team behind the production choices
2. Ability to refer with accuracy and appropriate understanding to technical details within
the film (e.g. composition, line, lens, focus, colour, lighting, audio treatment etc.)
3. Appreciation of how technical choices are made by Film and TV makers construct
meaning for the viewer within a narrative arc.

You are required to show evidence of comprehensive research into the subject area via
supporting notes and references
