NOTE 2: Reading assignments will be uploaded.Below is the previous assignment that you have completed in case if you did not save it.In any particular cooperate set up, promotion becomes handy in motivating employees working morale, promoting hard work and increasing their loyalty and commitment to work (Ventrice, 2009). In 10 years service in a sales and marketing departments of a Mobile Phone Company I have at one point or the other scaled the heights in promotion.
Fresh from high school, looking for unskilled jobs, I bumped into an advert seeking for sales persons with minimum qualification being secondary education, I applied for it and was picked after an interview, taken through some training and begun work as a sales agent. Given a target of 5 mobile phones per day, I often exceeded that target and some times even doubled it in terms of sales. With barely a year of service I was promoted to the rank of a field supervisor. This motivated me to take sales and marketing as a lifetime career and even enrolled for sales and marketing course in one of the universities which upon conclusion, I was again promoted to the position of a sales manager after attending a number of seminars and workshops. Moreover, after serving the company for 7 year, I was once more promoted to the position of a branch manager courtesy to my long time service with commitment, experience and promotion of teamwork. Throughout my career the company has groomed me as a leader and promoted my working spirit every time I receive a promotion letter.
Having a sense of belonging, feeling appreciated a motivated encourages hard work and commitment are some of the main results of promotion at work (Holbeche & Mayo, 2009). However, hard work, commitment to work education and training are the main considerations taken by human resource managers before promotion is undertaken in any organization. Length of service is also considered at some point (Ventrice, 2009).
