gerontology and aging

This is an inquiry paper for my aging class. I want to write about the “successful aging” paradigm in gerontology and the problems it poses when applied to the growing population of people who are aging with an intellectual disability. I have to write an inquiry paper and this is the topic i would like to write about. I will attach the instructions I’ve been given, so please please follow those instructions. I will also attach articles about “successful aging” that you could use, however i would also like it if you use outside sources, especially in the case of aging with a developmental disability. please make aging with a developmental disability in relation to successful aging as a contradictory as the main focus of this paper. If necessary, I would also appreciate it if you can integrate other theories that may be relevant for example: disengagement theory, or the new aging theory by k gergen, and maybe other possible theories as you go along. But I want to prove that “successful aging” theory is not beneficial to individuals with a developmental disability who are aging because this theory does not consider structural level oppression such as socio economic status in order to be able to fulfil “successful aging”.
