For a destination of your choice, either in the UK or elsewhere, critically analyse the use of culture and heritage in its tourism product. Your account should also contain your own subjective response to the destination, its culture and heritage as a piece of travel writing.
Or
Present an analysis of the development and marketing of some aspect of cultural tourism or a cultural event in the City of York. Use your marketing knowledge and skills to suggest how this is planned, organised and presented as part of the City’s tourism product. Your account should also contain your own subjective response to the destination, its culture and heritage as a piece of travel writing.
Your critical analysis should contain 2 elements:
1. A report that contains a detailed analysis of heritage and cultural tourism in a destination, or an analysis of the development and provision of a cultural product or event: 2,000 words
2. A piece of travel writing which records your own subjective thoughts and
responses to a destination, which may be the same or another: 1,000 words
The first element will a critical analysis of the “supply side” of cultural and heritage
tourism, while the part two will deal with your own subjective response to these same features and will be presented as an annex to your report.
