First Impressions

– Report Formatting: 2.5cm margins, size is 12pt font (incl. headings), Indent the first line of every paragraph (except abstract & reference), no space between paragraphs, no abbreviation except when referring to the paper “PSYC112”, format reference to be “hanging”, use double spacing. – The report is about FIRST IMPRESSIONS, I have provided some slides indicating how the report should be written and outlined, I’ve also included slides from the lecture of “First Impressions”. – Title should be in a different page as seen on the report example provided. – Start the Introduction paragraph from 3rd page, should be 3 pages or less (not written like essay introduction paragraph), and should be from broad to specific. – Method paragraph should be about what they did. – The Discussion paragraph should start after results on the same page and be from specific to broad. Also, put two good limitations (add the third if necessary). -Include implications (what results mean?) and applications (how these results applied or used to make changes?). -Please write a concluding paragraph that sums up everything in the discussion paragraph (what those results mean). – I’ve attached the class report results, use them for the “Result Paragraph”, put them in as figure and table = study 1, then another figure and table= study 2 as seen on the slides and report example. – Use third person no pronouns, i.e. the participants went to the computer and completed… -No need to report whether they had good hearing/eyesight. – Use full sentences to describe items, don’t use shopping lists. -Reference: must be in alphabetical order, APA format, with first and middle name use their first letter only. -I’ve also included pictures of samples. – A report example of another topic. – Feel free to look for different sources as well. – Remember to spell the report in American English. – This report should be between 2000-2500 words only, and must be finished on Wednesday at 8pm New Zealand local time.
