Imagine you are a financial adviser. A client has asked you to give them a report to help them decide which of two companies listed on the
filusstralian Stock Exchange (ASX) they should invest in. The two companies can be of your choosing providing they are top 100 companies
X.
Your clients want a report of ab out4A4 pages (main part of the report) that:
Outlinesthe business of each ofthe two
companies
Gives a comparison of the two companies
Gives some financial information about the companies including dividends and
share price for
the last five years.
They want the financial information as a comparison in: a) tables and
b) graphs.
Gives a
brief justification of which company you would recommend buying.
The submitted report will contain
A cover which includes your
company name and lo go and the title of the report – Atable of contents which includestabs with leaders
executive summary
recommendation
-The report on the two companies
Alist of references used in the rep ort.
The pages of the report will be
appropriately numbere d.(see relevant lecture)
The fonts used will be 12 point Times New Roman forthe bodytext and 12 point Arial bold
forthe headings. Headings will be 3points closerto the following paragraph than the preceding paragraph. Table and graph captions will be
in aria‘ 11pt italic font in a ifferent typeface to the two used for headings and bodytext. Tables and graphs will be centered horizontally

An el’eclt1ronic copy of the report should be submitted on FLO to your tutor priorto your presentation in your week 13 workshop
or s o 12.

In the week 13 workshop(Workshop 12) you will
present a brieftalk highlighting (and justifying) the key recommendations of your report. (Atalk of about 4 minutes is acceptable. No talk
will be permitted to go for more than 5 minutes- this will be strictly enforced.) The talk will be presented using a slide showto
summarise key points. There will be no formal provision for audience questions.
Value: 15% of the assessment.
10% for the report,
approximately 7% for content and3%for report structure and presentation but these cannot be easily separated because clarity of
presentation makes content easier to judge.
5% forthe talk (see talk assessment sheet below forthe talk marking scheme. You will
hand a copy of this sheet, with your details completed, to your tutor before you start yourtalk).
