Fables Writing/ Response and Reflection

Any fables would work but best if is “The Hare and the Tortoise” or “The ant and the grasshopper” or ” The man, the boy, the Donkey”. I understand these better than the other ones. Thank You

RESPONSE/REFLECTION PAPER

Your task for Writing Project #1 is to write an essay of no less than three and no more than five pages (1200-1600 words) and respond to, agree/disagree, or reflect on a fable either discussed in class or that you read on your own.

Your response should be thesis-driven, which means that you will have to provide your own claim or position about the issue/moral raised in the fable. Your thesis must express one or more of the following:
➢ your reaction to fable
➢ your level of agreement or disagreement with the fable
➢ how your experiences, attitudes and observations relate to the fable
➢ the ways in which you can extend or build on the ideas offered by the fable
Your paper must go beyond simply summarizing the fable. When developing your essay, you should use specific examples from both the fable or your own paraphrase to support your discussion. The purpose of this assignment is for you to learn how to expand on the ideas provided in a text by offering original ideas that either complement or run counter to the text and to learn how to use direct quotes and paraphrase information to effectively support your work. Please use MLA format and adhere to the guidelines of academic writing.

What I’m looking for:
➢ Thesis Statement: A clear, original, and appropriate thesis that is easy to locate in your essay
➢ Textual evidence: referring to the fable as much as possible, quoting the fable directly, identifying and stating ideas accurately from the text
➢ Summary/Paraphrase: Accurately summarizing/paraphrasing to provide the reader with the basic context of an original source
➢ Organization: A clear and logically organized essay
➢ Style: word choice, sentence structure, use of simile and analogy (comparison)
➢ Mechanics: grammar, punctuation, spelling
➢ MLA Format: double-spaced, Times New Roman, 1-inch margins, etc.

You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site.
