We’ve explored advertising and now consumerism, looking at how companies create brands to encourage consumers to spend. Your assignment is to write a paper (5-6 pages) exploring the relationship companies form with consumers and the relationship consumers develop with companies. Select a specific company and identify one group they target. What are the psychological, emotional, social, and/or economic impacts? In what ways does this relationship contribute to how members of the group identify themselves? Look closely at branding tactics used including advertisements (at least 3), slogans, and appeals to one’s class, values, culture, gender, etc. Use your own observations as well as external sources to support your discussion.
