Paper details:
1. In answering your question you may focus on a particular sport or draw on examples for more than one sport. 2. Clearly set out the full question which you are answering at the beginning of y0ur answer. This will be deducted from the word length report. 3. Analyse the relevant topic using your textbook, cases, journal articles and web resources. You should use the ICM library and other resources such as legal data bases, Austlii, Westlaw, LexisNexus to find that appropriate journal articles. Newspaper articles may also be useful at times but these may not clearly identify relevant legal issues. 4. Your research essay should have a clearly identifiable structure including an introduction outlining your argument or thesis. This will be followed by the body which provides the details and support for your argument including discussion of different points of view from your research. Integrated into this will be proposals for reform . Finally there is to be a conclusion which encapsulates your position in response to the question highlighting your most important points. 5. There must be a clear line of argument in your essay which must be written logically and coherently. 6. Your answer must be typed in Word. 7. Check spelling and grammar before submitting your answer. 8. The maximum word limit of 2,500 words excludes footnotes and references. Marks will be deducted for exceeding the word limit. 9. You should not write less than approximately 2,000 words. 11. You must reference your essay in accordance with the ICMS Style Guide. 12. A bibliography conforming to the ICMS Style Guide is to be attached to your essay. 13. The essay including references and bibliography are to be submiited in Turnitin before 15 July 2015. A printed copy of the Turnitin report is to be submitted with the attached Turnitin report before the lecture on 15 July 2015. 14. The lecturer reserves the right to carry out a viva voce on the essay if it is necessary to ensure that the essay is the student’s own work. Failure to pass the viva voce will result in a mark of 0 and a report to ICMS that the student has failed the viva voce and that the essay has been plagiarised. ICMS disciplinary procedures will then apply. 15. Any essay submitted late must be submitted during the Introduction to Sports Law class on Wednesday 22 July. A penalty of 5% will be deducted for each day late with a mark of zero awarded for any assignment seven or more days late.
