Identify the Topic, Angle, and Purpose of an Essay
Draft an essay to address a problem in your local community. It can be any problem. For example, women’s safety, public health, noise pollution, waste disposal, or any problem you want to write about.Use concept mapping and other prewriting strategies, such as brainstorming, freewriting, and outlining to explore and narrow your ideas for the essay. Then explain the topic, angle, purpose, intended readers, and the genre you would use for your essay.
Write a rough purpose statement that shows what you want to communicate through your paper. Explain to your instructor why you think your approach to the essay would be effective for your readers.
Submission Requirements:
Start with the title page, then include the purpose statement with the essay elements (topic, angle, etc.) on the second page, and then start the 2 to 3 page essay on the third page.
