When reading, Cry, the Beloved Country I personally was struck by Paton’s use of contrasting imagery in the novel, starting with a description of landscape in the early chapters of the novel. Later in the novel, characters seem to reflect their surroundings, an example would be those scenes set in the city of Johannesburg. Likewise, in Frankenstein, there is a very clear correlation between environment and plot, but more importantly between environment and character. Offer an analysis of how the above statements are TRUE based upon your understanding of the summer reading
