Write a brief summary of both books (Tuesday’s with Morrie and The Last Lecture), outlining the
subject’s motivation for telling his story, the take away messages presented to the reader (please
include page references), and the elements of the book that have resulted in such huge popular
appeal.
When considering Morrie and Randy, what are the aspects of their lives that are most similar and
most divergent? Given the opportunity to personally interview either of them, with whom would
you chose to spend time, and why? What questions would you pose and what issues would you
explore that weren’t present in the book?
In each book, who do you think was best served by the telling of the story? Have we exploited
these men by delving so intensely into the final journeys of their lives? What aspects of their dying
would you have preferred not to have been privy too? How do you feel about the
commercialization of their deaths?
