Description:
You are invited to conduct a project on any subject that is related to some aspect(s) of the course. The following are examples:

• A finite element study on implant design or fracture fixation for any joint/bone in the body. The model will consist of the synthetic device attached to bone. Some variable of the device such as stiffness or size should be adjusted to determine the response of bone.
• Development of a computational model (i.e. in Matlab) to examine the biomechanical response of bone or ligaments to loading. As an example, you may wish to determine the viscoelastic response for various spring-dashpot models and compare to experimental results. Another direction may be the effect of tissue substance (i.e. % collagen) on properties.
• Develop a 3D joint model to examine some specific activity to determine the joint reaction force. Ideally this will be an indeterminate with suitable minimization procedures to ensure determinacy.
• An experimental study where a measurement or measurements are taken, Ideally to do this, you will have access to a facility with capabilities to conduct these measurements. Examples include examining the strain in synthetic or cow bone for some clinical variable, measurement of motion in a gait facility etc…

Final Report: This report will follow the format for the Journal of Biomechanics Short Communication (1 member: up to 2000 words, 3 figures;
