(1) Select an ergonomics evaluation tool that we have not covered, or plan to have covered in class. Therefore, you may not select the NIOSH lifting equation, REBA, RULA, MAC, QEC, JSI, or the Snook (Liberty Mutual) tables. Choose a tool that has been described in the technical literature (journals or conference abstracts), but preferably one with a good website illustrating its use.
(2) Tell me your desired evaluation tool BEFORE you begin your write-up. I need to ask instructor. The instructor will make sure that the tool is an appropriate choice, and that no one else is working on that tool.
(3) Write a report including the following information:
a. Introduction (short paragraph describing the tool you have chosen);
b. Background (how and why the tool was developed);
c. Description (of the tool – how is it used? What is the result – a value in a table, an index showing the severity of the task, etc.?);
d. Recommendation (should we drop a current tool from the course? If so, which one and why? If not, why not?);
e. References (at least one technical reference, but also URLs for any appropriate web pages.
f. If appropriate, include a printout of the form(s) used to gather and score the data.
