Scientists use a structured approach called the scientific method to answer questions and figure out problems. The scientific method includes making observations, developing hypotheses, testing these hypotheses, collecting data and analyzing results. There are controls, independent variables and depend variables involved.

For your initial post worth 15 points do the following:

Outline a situation you have encountered in your work or daily life in which you used the scientific method to solve a problem. Explain how you approached this problem by using the steps of the scientific method.

Observations – 3 points
Hypothesis – 3 points
Experiment – 3 points
Data Collection and Analysis – 3 points
Conclusion – 3 points
Make sure to provide at least 2 sentences for each step. Failure to do so will result in an automatic 5 point deduction for the post.

For your reply post to another classmate by Sunday at 11:59pm worth 15 points, do the following:

Review each of their use of the scientific methods
Then explain what you think would happen if you could change any of their variables or controls – 7 points (Provide at least 1 – 4 sentence paragraph of detail)
Predict what different outcome you would expect – 8 points (Provide at least 1 – 4 sentence paragraph of detail)
Failure to meet the sentence requirement will result in an automatic 5 point deduction for the post.
