Environmental journal
Each student is required to keep ajournal in Blackboard. Each journal entry is 250-300
words, and a schedule forjournal entries can be found in the syllabus. Journals will be
reviewed occasionally during the semester as shown in the course schedule. The final grade
(maximum 45 points) will be given at the end of the semester.

The topic for this journal entry concerns:

Environmental issue in the news

Reflect on an environmental issue that you heard or saw in a news report. You can use the following
four points in yourjoumal entry:

1. Description – What was the news story? Did it concern a situation or event close to you or one that
you had experience with?

2. Analysis – What did you learn from the news story? Was it informative? Was the story a balanced
treatment of the topic, or did it tell the story from only one perspective? Did it change your opinion
about the topic?

3. Benefits – How did you benefit from the news story?

4. Demonstration of Ieaming – How can you show what you Ieamed from this experience?
