Energy & Utilities Management Academic Essay

Energy & Utilities Management Having survived the discussion concerning the new logistics, you are still the Facilities Manager at BestWidge in a widget manufacturing plant (see Org. Chart under Topic 6). Same scenario: the Production Manager has just ordered a new machine that produces a widge (a sub-component of the finished widget) using high pressure and temperature as he explains it. This new iWidgeCruncher is approximately eleven feet four inches tall, seven feet eight inches wide, and 12 feet long. The old pneumatic SuperWidge is ten feet tall, nine feet wide and nine feet eight inches long. The SuperWidge needs to be moved to an adjoining building, about 90 feet away, and the new iWidgeCruncher will be placed in the vacated space. Prepare a short report to your boss, the GM, presenting one energy issue this swap may create and why it is an issue (positive or negative). After allowing time for some other students to post their issues, reply to one student in theEnergy Issues forum providing additional information or relevant questions for his/her issues, do not just agree with him/her. Then, Click on theEnergy Opportunities discussion topic below (do not Add a new discussion topic), then click on Reply and change the Subject to FM504_lastname_8_Opportunities. Prepare a short report to your boss discussing one change or option you might have suggested (as they apply to energy management) if your input had been solicited before the purchase of this new equipment and why that would have been useful. Remember, for this they have not actually purchased the iWidgeCruncher, yet. You have a chance to give them some guidance on what to consider. Also, in the Energy Opportunities forum, reply to one other student addressing his/her suggestions/options, discussing why you think they are good or bad, or something they may have overlooked. Again, do not just agree with him/her; I do not want cheerleaders, I want discussion. That is two original postings and two replies, minimum, but feel free to reply to more (but please do not be the first reply to more than two). Let your mind drift on this one; the energy field is an open book these days. But please just use one issue in each, I know you are excited and want to give your boss all you can, but give the other students a chance. And as usual, the vagueness and vagaries rule. Put some energy into this assignment!
