This essay is built around an issue or topic about which you have a very strong opinion. Does it relate to your core values or beliefs? Most importantly, you will need to focus on your writing skills. Please also be sure to include at least two sources for your research; make sure to cite and reference the supporting information. ***Once a topic is picked I will provide the sources because they have to come from my colleges library, cant be outside sources.***Write a five-paragraph essay, 750-1,000 words in length (about 250 words = 1 page), in which you take a stand either for or against an issue about which you feel strongly. Examples of acceptable topics include, but not limited to: raising children, sports, the Internet, using social networking sites, energy drinks, stem cell research, cloning, and gun control. If you wish to choose another topic, you need approval from your instructor PRIOR to submitting your essay.The essay should contain three parts: introduction, body, and conclusion. This essay should also be written in Third Person point of view. It should contain background information important to the issue. Any definitions that are relevant to the topic should be included in the introduction. A strong thesis statement is required.
The body should contain three supporting paragraphs, each stronger than the one previous.
The conclusion should summarize the main points. The thesis statement should be rephrased within the conclusion. It should end with a call for action, a question, a quote, or a prediction. It should never contain new information.
