The structure for the final paper should follow the outline below. For all papers, the expected page length will be 25-30 pages excluding the bibliography. Your paper should have at least 30 references (in text citations). The Capstone paper will be downloaded on to LiveText and will be assessed by the 11 advanced practice competencies and the by content areas listed below.

Outline and Content Scoring for the Capstone Paper

I. Introduction -35 pts
The introduction articulates the issue and or question and its relevance to Social Work. Here one must be specific about what aspect of the topic is being investigated and why the student has chosen to investigate this particular topic
II. Literature and Research Review – 50 pts
The literature and research review establishes the context for discussing and examining the particular topic. It illustrates what is known about the topic and provides a justification for furthering knowledge in the selected area of examination.
III. Summary/Discussion – 30 pts
This section summarizes the preceding sections and provides your thoughts/reflections.
IV. Implications for Practice and Policy – 30 pts
Discusses the implications of the literature and research review as it relates to the chosen topic/issues/question and makes recommendations for further examination, exploration or research. (contd. next page)
Total Content Pts. = 145 pts

Advanced Competencies Assessed in Capstone Paper – Total == 55pts
There are 11 advanced competencies to be assessed, each competencies has a potential score of 5 pts. Assessment of competencies is worth a total of 55 pts.
The following rubric is applicable to each practice behavior identified and as demonstrated in the assignment.
5 = Consistently and appropriately creates/ incorporates/ analyzes/ evaluates/ engages and maintains/applies the behavior
4 = Demonstrates some evidence of appropriate creation/ incorporation/ analysis/ evaluation/ engagement and maintenance/ application of the behavior
3 = Demonstrates some understanding of the behavior
2 = Demonstrates minimal understanding of the behavior
1 = Demonstrates no understanding of the behavior
