Week 2 Assignment: Outline the Physical Effects of Drugs to Help in Preventative Efforts
Activity Description

Develop a presentation that addresses the effects and properties of each major substance of abuse and the effects on human beings.Design your presentation so that it could be used in a school setting for 4th through 8th grade students.Make sure to include:

  • A listing of frequently abused substances
  • A comparison of the properties/effects of hallucinogens, stimulants, and narcotics and the effects they have on the body
  • A description of the drug to include the “pleasurable” properties
  • A description of the negative effects and symptoms on the body (both seen and unseen)

Incorporate appropriate animations, transitions, and graphics as well as “speaker notes” for each slide. The speaker notes may be comprised of brief paragraphs or bulleted lists.

Support your presentation with at least three (3) scholarly resources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources may be included.

Length: 12-15 slides (with a separate reference slide)
Notes Length: 100-150 words for each slide

Be sure to include citations for quotations and paraphrases with references in APA format and style where appropriate.

3.0 Differentiate the symptoms of drug abuse and treatment for various types of illegal drugs.
