Drug addiction

Drug addiction is the occurrence of being used to a drug that one cannot do without. In the contemporary society, drug addiction has become a main issue of discussion in the subject of substance abuse. Many have viewed drug addiction in terms of its advantages that they claim are: feeling better for one’s self-esteem, makes one relax, it’s a fun, one forgets their problems, and makes one feels less self-conscious. On the other hand, many people consider drug addiction on its negative side which includes high costs, health effects, disorderly conduct, affects one’s ability to work, and leads to an embarrassing behavior. In addition, the effect that drug addiction has on relationships, especially family relationships is a paramount subject. Karen et al. (2012) takes the warns that drug addiction leads to a kind of behavior he calls maladaptive behavior, that comes about due to a brain function alteration that comes about due to prolonged use of drugs. On the same subject, David (2012) argues that the greatest disadvantage of drug addiction is that it is difficult to treat. This essay seeks to discuss the pros and cons of drug addiction.

With these groups divided over this issue, it remains a controversial issue in the society.
