Distinguish differing political ideologies and appraise their role in determining the nature of tourism policy and planning.

Chosen destination : Hong Kong
Distinguish differing political ideologies and appraise their role in determining the nature of tourism policy and planning.
Examine mainstream economic ideas and discuss how they provide a basis for analysis of the strategic management of tourism
Report Guidance:
Your report should be an audit of a destination of your choice (You need to choose one from the destination list below). In it you should analyse and interpret the social, economic and political contexts for the development of the destination. For example, what are the implications of the political situation? Are there any issues relating to the social and economic conditions prevailing in and around the destination?
You should then examine the way that tourism is organised in the destination and the influence of policies and strategies at the local level, in particular, how do these relate to or reflect social, economic or political conditions. You should then account for any impacts and infrastructural responses to these in policy terms. Finally you should analyse and interpret the major challenges and opportunities facing the destination in the future, and again, interpret the stated aims of destination managers in relation to these. You will consider whether, for example, new markets are necessary for the future of the destination and where these might be sought. This should be analysed in relation to particular theoretical constructs such as the destination portfolio, image and attraction formation and the destination lifecycle.
