In the non-western films we have studied this term, the protagonists caught in societal changes from the traditional to the modern are both female and male, but it is not hard to see that females and males absorb and endure the impact of such changes in vastly different manners. Choose characters of both genders from the films and write comparatively about where and how the gender distinction impinges on the way women and men deal with social changes in the non-Western context.
