In other non-fiction forms, such as the Alice Walker story, dialogue is much more suspect. Can someone really recall dialogue decades later?

Here’s a little task for you all. Think of an important conversation you’ve had in your life, one that meant a lot to you and should therefore be memorable. Try to recall as much of that conversation as you can, as accurately as you can. It could be with a parent or mentor, with your child at a crucial age, or maybe the first date with your future spouse. Present it to us here preceded by some remarks about how difficult, or easy, it was to recall the actual words with any kind of certainty.
