Designing Aims for a Unit of Study

Designing Aims for a Unit of Study

A. Decide on a content area or unit of study.

B. Identify the standards or learning targets that you will be assessing within that content area in language that can be understood by both students and parents. What are students to know and be able to do?(Consider curriculum standards, subject or discipline, expectations) Include what the learning targets will be measuring (knowledge, reasoning, performance skills, products, or dispositions)

C. Develop descriptions of what it means to meet the standard for each of the targets. These do not include activities or instruction but written statements about what it looks like for students to meet the learning targets you have identified.

D. Brainstorm triangulated evidence that you will collect for each learning target.

Incorporate a diagram such as triangles or flowcharts of an Assessment Plan.
