Designing a Public Education Campaign- Christiana

Respond to Review Question #4 in Chapter 3 of your Introduction to Homeland Security textbook. You may wish to review government websites, such as FEMA and the CDC.

Question #4 – “Understanding the new hazards associated with terrorism will be critical to reducing the fear among the public of these hazards. This was done very successfully in the past in understanding and dispelling the fear surrounding traditional hazards. How would you design and implement a public education campaign concerning the new hazards? What information would you present and how?”

The fear of the unknown can paralyze a nation. During early parts of the Cold War in the 1950s and 1960s, the government successfully implemented a national education program to help citizens understand what they should do if America was attacked with nuclear weapons. Today we have new threats associated with a variety of terrorism hazards.

Explain the effects of the new hazards associated with terrorism and the role education can play in reducing the public’s fear of these hazards. Design and explain the implementation of a public education campaign concerning the various terrorism hazards. Address the information that will be presented and provide a plan for presentation.

The paper must be two to three pages in length and formatted according to APA style. You must use at least two scholarly resources other than the textbook to support your claims and sub-claims. Cite your resources in text and on the reference page.
