Dementia Journey Approaching End of Life
Project description
Question:
Choose a particular time of transition in the dementia journey: either (1) moving from home or supported living into residential care, or (2) approaching the end of life.
Then consider:
aHow are people with dementia supported during this particular time?
aHow do the services and support offered fit with what we know about the experiences and views of people with dementia?
aHow effectively do the support and services discussed meet the needs of a diverse range of people with dementia?
aHow are people with dementia and their families/carers involved in decision-making around the time of this transition?
Use evidence from the literature and examples from your own practice, including at least one case study, to support your arguments. For this essay I wish to choose (2) Approaching end of life.
aEvaluate the fit between policy/practice frameworks and the literature on personal experiences at these points
aConsider diversity and to what extent this is taken into account within current services and support
aExamine decision-making and how this is supported (or not) in the context you are examining
aSupport theoretical arguments with a case study (your own experience or use examples from the literature)
aWhat are the implications/recommendations for future service frameworks for people with dementia and carers
aHow does this relate to future research perspectives
