A 6-8-page paper on cultural competence.  Define cultural competence and why it is an essential skill for counselors.  Discuss the benefits of competence and the risks of its absence. Select 2 – 3 specific cultures or populations,you can choose any that you prefer, and examine the specific cultural values, practices, beliefs, needs, etc.  Discuss how these themes would affect the way in which counseling is conducted with the specific population.  What particular considerations and/or adjustments would need to be made?
