2. B.R. Nanda, Jawaharlal Nehru, Rebel and Statesman, chapter 1-12
3. S.K. Majumdar, Jinnah and Gandhi, Their Role in Indias Quest for Freedom, see pdfI expect an adequate command of the three books covering the three key figures (Gandhi, Nehru, and Jinnah) that we are studying. Compare a chapter in Arnold or Nanda and one (or more) in Majumdar. 700-800 words (3 pages). Why is Majumdar so opposed to Gandhis embrace of the Khilafat movement?
Focus on one or two major events: Founding of the INC Indian National Congress), the Muslim League (1906), theKhilafat movement, Jinnahs 14 Points (1929), the Two Nation theory (1940 at Lahore convention of the Muslim League), the Salt March, Quit India movement, Cripps Mission, Cabinet Mission, the Partition. All these events are connected on a chain of cause and consequence.
