1. Schools are an integral part of society and the single social institution in which juveniles spend the largest portion of their time. Some scholars believe that schools have some responsibility in the delinquency of juveniles while others believe that schools cannot be blamed for contributing to such delinquency. Nonetheless, schools can play an important role in reducing and/or preventing delinquency. From a criminological perspective, choose three criminology theories that best explain why some juveniles engage in delinquency? Based on those three theories, what policy recommendations (to reduce and/or prevent juvenile delinquency) would be most suitable to implement in a school environment?
2. Since the events of September 11th, our nation has been developing strategies to counter terrorism. Although most of these strategies are based on gathering intelligence and giving law enforcement more tools to deter another domestic terror attack, some scholars are turning to criminology to help explain why some individuals wish to harm the United States. Use 3 criminological theories to explain terrorism (whether domestic or foreign). In other words, using theory, explain why individuals engage in terroristic activities. Based on the theories you chose, what policies can be developed to prevent other terror attacks?
