INSTRUCTIONS: 1. At the bottom of p. 4 in the text, there is a screenshot showing the Variable View in SPSS where you would define your variables. Using this graphic, briefly describe the process of defining a variable in SPSS.

2. Starting on p. 14 of text, there is a discussion of selection and transformation of data. Describe your understanding of how these two manipulations of data might be helpful to you, as a researcher, in dealing with data in a research analysis. Give examples of each.
