Criminal Investigation

For Paper #1, please answer the following prompt:Imagine that you are an investigator with Central City, and are called to a crime scene where a female victim has been found deceased. Decide what your crime scene looks like and a cause of death for your victim. Have the scene set before you begin writing. For your essay, show me what you have learned about crime scene procedures, evidence collection and processing; walk me throughyour investigation. Use your inductive and deductive reasoning skills at the scene. What kind of perimeter did you set up and why? What state is the victim in? Is the woman’s identity known, or will you need to take fingerprints? Are there obvious signs of entry? Blood? A weapon? Can you guess a cause of death? Why or why not? What evidence is at the scene, and how do you handle it once it is found (fingerprints, tire impressions, blood, hair, etc.)? Where are you looking for evidence and why? If there is a search, which method will you use? Is your intuition telling you anything? Essays should include proper grammar, sentence structure, should flow easily from one concept to the next, and show a mastery of the material. High-scoring essays will be well-organized, include multiple concepts from each section (including how to set up a proper scene with a perimeter, search methods, and distribution of duties), and exhibit a high level of creativity. Please familiarize yourself with the following grading rubric before getting started.
