In Week 9, you read the modern play Someday by award-winning Ojibway dramatist Drew Hayden Taylor. This play, as well as Hamlet, has ironic elements. Your task is to showcase such irony in a series of e mail exchanges.
Review your annotations and sticky notes in relation to the characters and irony in Someday and Hamlet.
Review the Essential Questions .
Re-familiarize yourself with the different types of irony. Categorize your sticky notes into the three types. Review Someday for ironic quotations, events, and scenes.
Choose one character from Someday and one character from Hamlet and have them compose a series of e-mails to each other addressing two of the Essential Questions in the course. (Consider choosing characters on the fringe of the action, such as Horatio or Bernardo.) A minimum of 4 exchanges per character for a total of 8 e-mails.
Using your understanding of irony and the situations that have occurred within the plays, incorporate a twist of irony and/or a flavour of humour within your e mail exchange. For example:
e mail chat
Ophelia and Barbara exchange e-mails on how to deal with boyfriends
Anne and Gertrude discuss the role of motherhood
Hamlet and Rodney advise each other on how to get things done

— choose motherhood
—/ MUST INCLUDE IRONY
