This assignment takes the form of a conventional essay. The essay is expected to show evidence of wider reading and contextual research.

Choose two practitioners (Lloyd Newson and Pina Bausch) working in the last forty years. Aspects of the work of one practitioner might have been discussed in the module but the other should be of your own choosing.

Identify in what ways and to what extent you consider these practitioners conform to or exceeded the boundaries of theatrical naturalism within their practice.

– You are encouraged to consider practitio•ners who do not primarily use the written word. You are encouraged to consider practitioners who are working currently and whose work you might be able to see either live or recorded.
Your work should focus on contrast and comparison rather than on providing separate evaluations of your chosen practitioners’ work.•-
