Write a comparison essay for two poems

(MUST HAVE The Compact Bedford Introduction to Literature ninth edition textbook by Michael Meyer)

Step one – Choose from the following list of poems to compare:

Option #1, Compare “Titanic” (page 620) with “The Convergence of the Twain,” (page 618)
Option #2, Compare “Ode on a Grecian Urn” (623) with “To His Coy Mistress” ( 613)
Option #3 Compare “Dover Beach” (641) with “The Charge of the Light Brigade” ( 752)

Step two – Read and analyze each poem

Step 3 – choose the area or areas about which you will base your comparison

Step 4 – read excerpts from a poetry comparison essay on pages 647-648

Step 5 – craft a thesis similar to the one in the sample essay (647)

Step 6 – Choose quote nuggets from the poems

Step 7 – Put it all together in a 3 page (minimum) comparison essay
