Chapter two exercises 1: Think of a situation in which a crime has occurred in your own life or in the life of a family member, friend, or acquaintance. Answer the following questions in relation to that crime event: 1.What was (or seemed to be) the offender’s motivation to commit the crime? 2. What was the nature of the place where the crime occurred? 3. What was the nature of the target or behavior of the victim during the crime? 4. How might the handlers, the guardians and managers have increased the opportunity for the crime to occur? 5. How might the crime have been prevented? (Focus on the opportunities that enabled the crime to occur. For the offender, could anything have increased the perceived effort, increased the perceived risks, or reduced the anticipated rewards?)
